Ok,
What yoga
is: staying present with your breath (IF YOU CAN BREATH - YES, YOU CAN "DO" YOGA)
What yoga
is NOT: forcing - competition - just a form of excercise
Let’s
start with the breath, our life force, our constant amidst a life of chaos. Our media feeds this upon us. We spend
so much money on trying to make robots more human, that we forget to realize how much we're becoming robots.
With our breath
guiding us, what we practice on the mat will help us in those challenging daily situations.
The more that
we’re able to work with that breath, continuously bring our minds back to that breath, the less we’ll care about
what color that other person is, or how much money they make or don’t make, what clothes they were, or don’t wear,
what race, what religion, what status… honestly does any of that matter??? NO!!
Our breath is
that constant; when we close our eyes in our practice, when we touch our awareness on our breath, when we honor our bodies
as a whole… we practice yoga. When we love ourselves, our whole self, inside
and out we practice yoga.
We join together
mind and body united through breath, that same breath that we all share… it unites us.
We stay un-united
due to fear… ask yourself why are you scared? That separation between us
and them also separates us internally, emotionally. We really are no different. We all want to find happiness. We all
have the basic innate goodness deep inside of us. So let go of that ego, it only
builds a community based upon non-reality. The ego always wants something more,
something better, more money will make us happy… in reality, nothing will make you happier unless you dig deep. We are all born enlightened, joyous individuals, we’re only taught otherwise.
So let’s
all wake up, let’s all rise up, let’s all shine our inherent goodness.
As Sakyong Mipham
says in his book “Turning the Mind into an Ally”
“If
you want to be miserable think of yourself. If you want to be happy think of
others”
When we think
about others, contemplate them so they too can find happiness and end their suffering, we truly can change the world…
one step at a time.
When we contemplate
death, we can really see how lucky we are to be alive. We can then be less fearful
of dying and start living.
Breath by breath,
moment by moment we can become fearless warriors.
I’ve been
practicing yoga since 1998. Recently I’ve had the opportunity to practice
with Bryan Kest and my passion of yoga, passion that yoga is accessible to everyone, needed by everyone has strengthened. Teaching since 2003, I’ve been influenced by Seane Corn, David Life, Sharon
Gannon, Manju Jois, Shiva Rea, and many others. My teaching is an eclectic blend
of those that inspire me and the need for everyone to benefit from yoga. My classes
are accessible for all… the only requirements are to breath, stay present, love and honor your whole being.
Namaste!
